I got my z calipers tore down the other day to get ready for a trip to exotics. I wanna know if there is a big diff in quality in a few seals since o'rielys has the fronts for 7 dawas a piece and 15 a piece for the rears. That's just the seal kit not hardware kit. Courtesy parts are 35 for front rebuild (pair I hope) and 80ish for the rear, why the rear is more when it is half the kit beats me! I read that kits from advance auto look cheap but WTF it's rubber O rings, maybe I have never seen a baller ass o ring just boot leg o'riley o rings HARRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I also wanna know if it's worth replacing the shims and maybe as far as replacing pistons. All I really need is (1) retainer pin since it was missing and a new caliper bolt cause it striped and broke when takin the caliper apart and just the seal kit. Well if I'm missing something then post it or have any info if you have been down this road before. |

i don't know of ANYONE that sells new pistons, but i got everything for my brakes at courtesy parts, shims, retaining clips, seals and boots. wasn't TOO bad, but i don't mind spending money to make sure they're basically new. mine were still fine but they'd been sitting for like 5 years, plus i had them powdercoated : ]

no I have not modded the bmc yet, I sorts wanna new one since its around 18 years old. I found a complete 90 z in a junkyard so everything is matched but I was not sure if I need to run a newer nabco bmc or get the same bmc that the 90 had just new. So if there is a better bmc for the 26mm alum calipers let me know, I heard it's all up to the driver if you want a soft or hard pedal feel. I have not found a write up on how to mod the bmc yet.
I want to go with the oem nissan rebuild kit from courtesy but the rear rebuild kit price is madz stoopid Yo (insert gang sign here). But I guess I will pay it for added safty-ness. Is it worth replacing shims, the stock ones seem fine so??? Ugh can't wait to get them installed... SB lines, slotted rotors, candy red calipers and candy red toe, tie rods and ruca's mmm mmm mmm! |

yeah the 17/16 BMC is the one you want, and actually, you can cut the flare fitting that you need to put in the out of the front of the old 240 one....NICO has a write up about it i think? but i was gonna run ABS, so i wasn't gonna worry about it...ohhhhhh how things change : [
props for getting the alum. ones, same setup with me |

My pistons were good, I just went to advance and got the rebuild kit. It came w/ seals, dustboots, and retainer rings for like $30 for the front.

I think I found a problem with the alum calipers cause I read alot about people stripping bolts. Even one of mine did so I had to drill it out but had enough thread to be safe without re-tapping but might decide to do it anyway. I guess after the years of getting hot and cooling over and over puts alot of stress on the alum like what exshaust goes through.
