http://www.nissanconvention.com/

When: June 3rd through 6th, 2010
Where: Omaha, NE

NICO is in the background of this set up. Should be huge.

Really doubt I can afford it, unless we have a huge group going and split driving/gas money over the group.

Updated info:

Join us for the largest Nissan / Infiniti / Datsun convention in North America!

(IMG:http://www.nissanconvention.com/convention.jpg)

Formerly known as the National SE-R Convention, NICOclub.com has stepped up the size of this convention for 2010 - It's now open to all Nissan motorsports enthusiasts.

Events will include two days of on-track action: Road course, drifting, drag racing, rallycross, a car show, awards, vendors, raffle prizes, a catered picnic and more, all at the world-class Mid America Motorplex - just 20 minutes from downtown Omaha.

Take a look at the Convention website, read about the history of this event and check out the track layout: http://www.nissanconvention.com

I hope you'll all make an effort to come out and experience the ultimate Nissan enthusiast event!

Please feel free to contact any of us if you have questions, comments, or just want to say HI!

torry@nicoclub.com - Events Coordinator
becky@nicoclub.com - Business Manager
greg@nicoclub.com - President / CEO

p.s. The Nissan Convention is on Facebook, too! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=93199585947

how can you say you can't afford an event 6 months away? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/035_blink.gif) if you started now, weekly visits to the sperm and blood bank would pay for it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/047_sick.gif)

I'm living paycheck to pay check, saving nothing and have $1600 on a credit card that has to get paid off.

if it's like the sr20 convention, they try to host it in a different region of the country every year. it's only fair.

wuss. i drove to the LA convention in 02... by myself... pulling a trailer... in 49 hours. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/011_saywhat.gif) but i was much more enthusiastic back then. if i go to NE (which i might cause i have a friend out there), it'll probably take me 3 days. I dont think its because you're less enthusiastic but because you're OLD. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/downs.gif) Seriously though that is a long ass drive to no where. Unless it is gonna be a huge caravan then I doubt I will consider going. It was long as fook when we all went to ATL fro NOPI.

seriously? atlanta was a long drive for you? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/039_rolleyes.gif) i used to go to atlanta every month. one time i went 3 times in 1 week. that's the only benefit from being used to drive an hour each way to work. being used to long drives.

I can typically only budget for one major car related trip per year. Depending on what happens with VIR's schedule next year I may be able to swing 2 trips if they are spaced out enough. It's not about the cost of the trip for me, I just don't have many vacation days at work (I barely have enough just to cover the major holidays). There are several Z related conventions I also miss out on every year b/c I just can't get the time off work to attend them. ZDayz, BransonZfest, Z nationals, just to name a few.

That's further than I want to drive for just about any event. Think I'd be able to budget for a couple track days rather than something like that.

Track day will be with this:

"Events such as road course lapping, drifting, drag racing, and rally-cross, combined with a car show, raffle prizes, BBQ, and awards..."

i went to the 01 UNoN (United Nations of Nissan) meet, the 02 National 240sx convention in LA, and the 03 National convention in 03. i just think the bigger meets are a lot more fun. you get to meet people other than locals, get to see a different part of the country, and all around usually have a better time. i'm really not into the whole car scene like i used to be. (the brm has been parked ever since i got home.) but i'm still contemplating going to the event. it would really be fun to have a caravan of folks going. it would make the drive go by quicker.

If I can afford about 4-5 days hotels and we could get 5-10+ people to caravan it would be fun.

2516 miles round trip (not factoring in getting lost or additional driving)
2 days driving each way, figuring 10 hours per day
3 day event
5 nights in hotels: 1st day driving/hotel. 2nd day arrive at the event /hotel. 3rd day still at the event /hotel. 4th day pack up/final event day drive 10 hours maybe, stay in hotel again. 5th day complete rest of drive home.

Food for 5 days = $100 easy

Figuring 25 MPG means a minimum of 100 gallons of gas X $2.75 a gallon = $275 (not sure what gas prices are up to these days, I only know I need it)

Hotel stays will be $25-50 per night X 5 nights = $125-250

We're talking easily $500 trip and that's on the low end.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go, but I'd rather spend my money on other stuff if it's car related.

Yeah, it would be expensive and long.

But would get to see people and cars you'd never see otherwise. But it'd definitely be the one vacation trip I would take for the year and nothing else (though the last 3 years I haven't had a true vacation at all.

good point, I did think about that.
hey its a nissan meet, we can all get a Quest Van, pile in that bish, chip in for gas up there and take turns driving, if we have enough people get 2 vans. doubt any of us can afford to take the time off but its a thought

It would have to be taking 5 days (Wed, Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday) at least. If we can get a decent group to split hotels/gas I'd probably be down for doing it.

Omaha Nebraska? The Corn Huskers State? The state with a Catfish as its states fish and Blue Chalcedoney is the states gem and Goldenrod (Soldiago gigantea) is the state flower and deer is the states mammal? The state with no professional sports team?

Sounds like fun.

If your from Iowa.

If im driving a long distance for an event there had better be a reason for bikinis (and lots of them) to be present and a ocean to jump into to cool off. Miles and miles of corn would creep me out after watching the Children Of The Corn movie.
